Fisher of Kids
"One boy. Twenty villages. Seven years on the water."
At just six years old, James Kofi Annan is sold into Ghana's fishing industry and forced to work as a child fisherman on Lake Volta. For seven years, he struggles to survive, working across twenty villages before finally escaping. Unable to read or write, James teaches himself while pursuing an education that eventually takes him to a position as a bank manager. But his past never leaves him. Walking away from a successful banking career, he establishes "Challenging Heights" and dedicates his life to fighting child slavery and rescuing children still trapped in the industry that once held him captive.
